f350 engine piston replacement

I read that HONDA recalled the 350 engine because of exhaust ports being too wide causing the rings to hang in the exhaust and break them.Is there a time limit on this matter I just bought my odyssey and blew the top end on 2nd time out this sat for years and wasn't ridden much at all .Maybe that had something to do with the piston losing compression,, confused..
Your problem is more then likely a jetting issue. what did your piston look like after it blew up a picture would be nice.
